We already have found a place and secured a place, can we still use Total Aged Care Solutions for the finance service only?
Yes, our service offerings are mutually exclusive and we can provide all of the services or any one on its own depending on what you need assistance with.
We have our own adviser who we trust, can we still use Total Aged Care Solutions for the other areas, and use our current adviser for the financial issues?
Yes, our service offerings are mutually exclusive and we can provide all of the services or any one on its own depending on what you need assistance with. We will then work with your advisers including your accountant if required to assist with any information they require.
What is involved in looking for a place, and can’t we do this ourselves?
You can do everything yourself depending on your time constraints.
You will need to investigate a number of aged care facilities in your preferred area, and make appointments to meet the administrator and ‘tour’ the facility.
Some issues to consider when looking for a place include:
- Where should it be? Close to family home or close to family who can assist.
- Medical facilities including any potential future requirements.
- Social agenda & facilities for family visits and celebrations such as Birthdays etc.
- Food quality and variety and menu options.
- Number of staff per resident and staff service time.
- Location and style of the facility.
Do we need to get a legal opinion on a contract for placement?
We recommend that all clients get a legal opinion on this and advise this as part of our ‘Find a place’ service. We provide a referral to our preferred legal partners, but if you have a legal contact, we would still recommend this from your own legal providers.
Does Total Aged Care Solutions get any referral fees or other remuneration from any Aged Care Facilities they provide information for?
No Total Aged Care Solutions is an independent provider of information, and although we may have personal preferences on which facilities we think are suitable, we do not receive any financial inducements or otherwise from any provider.
If we have a potential provider that we would like included in the ‘Look for a place’ options, can you provide information on that provider also?
Yes, we can include another provider that you may request as part of our summary of suitable facilities for no extra charge. That is unless we have previously reviewed the facility and found it not suitable. In which case we will inform you of this.
The basics of the costs of aged care:
Identify as fully supported, partly supported, or self supported, as the costs are different for each type of client.
Self Supported Costs:
Basic Daily Fee – Everybody pays this daily fee.
Government Costs:
Means Tested Fee – calculated based on the means tested form
Facility costs:
RAD/DAP – the costs of the room.
Extra Services Fee – various names and is a daily cost related to extra services the facility provides.
